Our famous Discoverer Day is the ultimate boat cruise and walk combination in the Abel Tasman National Park.
With three different walk options, the Discoverer Day offers all the best the Abel Tasman has to offer with a Full Park Scenic Cruise, visits to Split Apple Rock and a Fur Seal colony, golden beaches, forest walking and wildlife encounters all in one superb day out.
Departing Kaiteriteri Beach at 9.00am or 10:30am*.
There are three tour options:
Option A: Astrolabe Beaches and Bays
Walking Distance: 7 km
Walking Time: 2.5 hours
Details: Following a Full Park Scenic Cruise, drop-off at Apple Tree Bay at 12:00pm for a walk through to fabulous Anchorage Beach with time to visit five different beaches along the way. There is also the option to add the 1 hour Pitt Head loop track to Te Pukatea beach. A great choice for beach lovers!
Pick-up from Anchorage 3:45pm or 5:00pm**. Arrive in Kaiteriteri 4:20pm or 5:30pm**
Option B: Forest and Swing-Bridge
Walking Distance: 10.5 km
Walking Time: 4 hours
Details: Following a Full Park Scenic Cruise, drop-off at Medlands Beach at 11:30am for a rewarding and varied walk to Anchorage Beach including the scenic highlights of the South Head lookout, the famous Falls River swing-bridge and (Cleopatra’s Pool is currently closed). Pick-up from Anchorage 3:45pm or 5:00pm**. Arrive in Kaiteriteri 4:20pm or 5:30pm**
Option C: Five Beaches
Walking Distance: 8.8 km
Walking Time: 3.5 hours
Details: Following a Full Park Scenic Cruise, drop-off at Awaroa at 11:00am and enjoy Five Beaches between Awaroa and your pick-up at Medlands Beach. This walk also features the option of stopping at the Awaroa Lodge Cafe, excellent views and native forests as well as a waterfall and lagoon at Bark Bay. A steep climb from Tonga Quarry requires a reasonable level of fitness.
Pick-up from Medlands Beach 3:30pm or 4:45pm*. Arrive in Kaiteriteri 4:20pm or 5:30pm
